Hagersville holds on for 3-2 win against Ayr

The Ayr Centennials tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Hagersville Hawks held on for a 3-2 victory.

A goal by Derek Medeiros put Hagersville up 3-1 in the second period, but Ayr pulled to within one on Logan Beechey's tally 9:57 into the third period.

Medeiros was all over the ice for the Hawks, as he finished with two goals in the win.

Hagersville was shut out on the power play, going scoring scoreless on 11 chances with a man advantage.

Hagersville additionally got points from Jesse Ross, who also registered one goal and one assist.

The Centennials stifled the Hawks' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Ayr was held below its usual level of production. The Centennials put an average of 5.5 pucks into the net per game. Ayr's offense rang up 38 shots on Hagersville's net.

Ayr also got a goal from Brandon Christopher as well. Other players who recorded assists for Ayr were Jimmy Roy, Nick Hirs, and Alex Mutton, who contributed one a piece.

Justin Paccheco recorded 36 saves for the Hawks. Hagersville incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors. The Centennials' Bobby Brown stopped 19 shots out of the 22 that he faced. Ayr incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
