Thamesford downs Exeter in overtime, 6-5 (OT)

Adam Levine gave the Thamesford Trojans a 6-5 (OT) victory over the Exeter Hawks when he scored 1:03 into the extra period.

Thamesford came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Trojans trailed 4-2 after a goal by Exeter's John Kingma at 12:17 in the second period. Thamesford knotted things up at 5-5 on a goal by Jake Currie at 18:40 in the third period.

Kyle Walker had two goals and two assists to lead the Trojans. Walker scored the first of his two goals short handed at 21 seconds into the third period to make the score 4-3 Exeter. Walker's next tally short handed made the score 5-4 Thamesford with 2:11 left in the third period. Thamesford had taken the advantage when the Hawks' Cody Hern got sent off for tripping. Andrew McLennan assisted on the tally.

The Trojans excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in 11 chances. Exeter was unable to stop Thamesford from sending pucks towards the net, and the Trojans eventually piled up 39 shots on goal. Thamesford was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 34 penalty minutes.

Thamesford also got points from Levine, who also had one goal and two assists and McLennan, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Judson Couture also scored for Thamesford. In addition, Thamesford received assists from Kyle Davis, Jake Tierney, and Paul Grasby, who contributed one a piece.

The defensemen of the Hawks were also effective in the Trojans' zone, and came away with two goals. Exeter's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Hawks finished with 48 penalty minutes.

Exeter was led by Cam Jude, who racked up two goals. Jude scored the first of his two goals short handed at 15:03 into the first period to make the score 1-1. The Hawks were on a disadvantage when Chiristopher Pfaff went off the ice for head contact. Kalvin Thornton picked up the assist. Jude's next tally short handed made the score 2-2 with 13:52 left in the second period. A spearing call on Dan Lawson put Exeter on the penalty kill. Devon Elliott assisted on the tally. Exeter also got a goal from Matthew McLellan as well. Other players who recorded assists for Exeter were Mitch Wild and Taylor Moir, who each chipped in one.

James Champagne recorded 24 saves for Thamesford. The Trojans registered two goals on 15 power play opportunities. The Hawks' Paul Orlando stopped 33 shots out of the 39 that he faced.
