Thamesford survives North Middlesex comeback, wins 8-6

The North Middlesex Stars almost clawed their way back from a three-goal deficit, but the Thamesford Trojans managed to pull out an 8-6 win in the end.

Thamesford led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Trojans' Judson Couture's scored at 17:19 in the second period to put Thamesford up 7-4.

Kyle Walker had two goals and two assists to lead the Trojans. Walker scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 16:23 into the second period to make the score 6-4 Thamesford. Thamesford had gained a power play chance when Jeremy Vandeven was whistled for tripping. James Toye assisted on the tally. Walker's next tally on the power play made the score 8-6 Thamesford with 4:34 left in the third period. Fabio Galante provided the assist.

North Middlesex's 10 penalties came back to haunt it, as the Stars let up four goals while on the penalty kill.

The Trojans' offense rang up 38 shots on North Middlesex's net. Thamesford bested its season scoring average. The Trojans have scored at the pace of 4.1 goals per game during the current campaign.

Thamesford also got points from Dylan Salter, who also had one goal and two assists and Galante, who also racked up two goals and two assists. Thamesford also got a goal from Ben Kirwin as well. Other players who recorded assists for Thamesford were Justin Cooper, who had one and Cody DiDomenico and Andrew McLennan, who contributed two a piece.

The Stars found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. North Middlesex averages 3.2 goals per game.

The Stars were led by Mike Sharpe, who registered three goals. North Middlesex additionally got points from Jake Alkins, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Michael Quinn also scored for North Middlesex. In addition, North Middlesex received assists from Zak MacNaught, who had three, Alex Davis and Chris Waack, who each chipped in one, and Spencer Kading and Ben Lawton, who contributed two a piece.

Thamesford's Grayson Templeman stopped 18 shots out of the 24 that he faced. The Trojans incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Ryley Bonk made 30 saves for North Middlesex on 38 shots. The Stars incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors.
