Murray leads New Hamburg over Wellesley, 7-4

New Hamburg's Sam Murray had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 7-4 win over the Wellesley Applejacks.

Murray found the back of the net 17:18 into the first period to make the score 3-1 New Hamburg and again while 3:52 into the third to make the score 6-4 New Hamburg.

New Hamburg managed to stay out of the box better than usual, racking up one minor for two minutes in penalty time. New Hamburg wound up below its season average of 5.0 penalty minutes per game.

New Hamburg additionally got points from Sean Kienapple, who also had one goal and one assist, Jay DAguilar, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, and Sean Hergott, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Jaden Goetz also scored for New Hamburg. More assists for New Hamburg came via Matt Yantzi, who had two and Kyle McDonald, Taylor Wood, and Trevor Sweetland, who contributed one a piece.

Wellesley excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances.

The Applejacks were led by Tyler Eckert, who registered one goal and one assist. Eckert scored 1:23 into the second period to make the score 3-3. Wellesley also got a goal from Troy Williams as well. In addition, Wellesley received assists from Jake Steenson, Corey Way, and Luke Rose, who each chipped in one.

New Hamburg took out Graeme Lauersen after he had made 10 saves and installed Eric Peicheff in goal, where he finished with seven saves and the win. Wellesley's Josh Heer stopped 22 shots out of the 28 that he faced. The Applejacks incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors and had no power play opportunities.
