Lucan survives North Middlesex comeback, wins 5-3

The North Middlesex Stars tried their best to erase a four-goal deficit, but the Lucan Irish would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 5-3.

Lucan took a 5-1 lead during the third period, only to have North Middlesex storm back on a Jeremy Vandeven goal 18:44 into the third period to pull to two goals down.

The Irish got the win thanks to a great game by Mitch Smith, who had one goal and two assists. Smith scored 6:34 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Lucan. Wes Huston picked up the assist.

Lucan forced the Stars goalie Bobby Raine to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots. The Irish got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Lucan additionally got points from Fraser Lewis, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Keiron Cobban, who also registered one goal and one assist. Lucan also got a goal from Mitch Morin as well.

North Middlesex's offense rang up 58 shots on Lucan's net.

Spencer Kading also scored for North Middlesex. Other players who recorded assists for North Middlesex were Nolan Vlasman, Ben Lawton, and Tommy Prokes, who contributed one a piece.

Dylan Hoover made 55 saves for the Irish on 58 shots. Lucan incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Raine rejected 27 shots on goal for the Stars. North Middlesex incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. For the Stars, Cody Wuytenburg was ejected from the game.
