Lambeth wins tough contest against Dorchester, 6-5

The Lambeth Lancers gutted out a close 6-5 win against the Dorchester Dolphins.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Warren Hargraves' goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

Mitch Furlonger was all over the ice for Lambeth, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Furlonger scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 17:48 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Lambeth. A high sticking penalty on Matt Johnson had put the Lancers on the power play. Kale Corbeth provided the assist. Furlonger's next tally on the power play made the score 5-5 with 10:24 left in the third period. Lambeth earned a power play opportunity when Tyler Blue was put in the box for cross checking. Tanner Smith picked up the assist.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 19:55 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

The Lancers were often in penalty trouble, totaling 11 minors and one major for 47 minutes in penalty time. Lambeth surpassed its season average of 36.0 penalty minutes per game. The Lancers forced Dorchester goalie Jake Fonti to work between the pipes, taking 49 shots. Lambeth's defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. The Lancers give up 2.4 goals per game. Lambeth was held back by its power play unit, which tallied two goals on 10 chances.

Lambeth additionally got points from Smith, who also had two goals and one assist. Cleo Gubbels also scored for Lambeth. Other players who recorded assists for Lambeth were Brandon Robbins and Riley Gilmore, who contributed one a piece and Ryan Pennington and Dale Morningstar, who each chipped in two.

The the Dolphins penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled eight minors and one major for 41 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 30.0 minutes per game Dorchester had been spending in the box. The Dolphins' offense rang up 43 shots on the Lancers' net.

Dorchester was helped by Chad Brulotte, who registered one goal. Brulotte scored 4:21 into the third period to make the score 5-4 Dorchester. JP Trudell rejected 38 shots on goal for Lambeth. For the Lancers, Pennington and Morningstar were ejected from the contest. The Dolphins' Fonti stopped 43 shots out of the 49 that he faced. Dorchester registered three goals on 10 power play opportunities. For the Dolphins, Tyler Vere was ejected from the game.
