Wellesley survives Tavistock comeback, wins 3-2

The Wellesley Applejacks survived a determined comeback attempt by the Tavistock Braves on the way to a 3-2 win.

Wellesley made the score 3-1 on a goal by Tyler Eckert at 16:21 in the second period, and Tavistock got as close as 3-2 when Jordan Ritsma scored 9:18 into the third period.

Eckert had a great game for the Applejacks, netting two goals.

Wellesley stifled the Braves' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Luke Rose also scored for Wellesley. More assists for Wellesley came via Michael Pollice, Rob Hinschberger, Josh Herd, and Connor McLeod, who each chipped in one.

Tavistock excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances.

Tavistock also got a goal from Matthew Lupton as well. Other players who recorded assists for Tavistock were Charlie Malson, who had one and Nick Quehl, who had two.

Josh Heer made 28 saves for the Applejacks on 30 shots. Wellesley incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Tim Parker recorded 25 saves for the Braves. Tavistock incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
