Lambeth beats Aylmer 4-3 after comeback scare

The Lambeth Lancers survived a determined comeback attempt by Aylmer on the way to a 4-3 win.

A goal by Nick North put Lambeth up 4-1 in the second period, but Aylmer pulled to within one on Mike Crawford's tally 17:59 into the third period.

Aylmer's power play was ineffective against the Lancers' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 17:16 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with four game misconducts.

Lambeth was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 40 penalty minutes.

The Lancers were helped by Dale Morningstar, who grabbed one goal. Morningstar scored 17:58 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Lambeth. Tanner Smith provided the assist. Lambeth additionally got points from Smith, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Brandon Robbins also scored for Lambeth. Other players who recorded assists for Lambeth were Justin Clark, who had two and Josh Bumpus, Ryan Pennington, Derek Courtney, Mitch Thomas, and Riley Gilmore, who each chipped in one.

The defensemen of Aylmer were also effective in Lambeth's zone, and came away with two goals.

Aylmer also got a goal from Mitch Roloson as well. More assists for Aylmer came via Mark Edmonds, Scott Mugford, Todd Laurindo, Adam Szwed, Eric Nemeth, and Brad Payne, who contributed one a piece.

JP Trudell recorded 24 saves for the Lancers. Lambeth registered one goal on three power play opportunities. Team's Kyle Huston and Morningstar were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Aylmer's Greg Acheson stopped 21 shots out of the 25 that he faced. Aylmer ended with 26 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and two majors. For Aylmer, Laurindo, Rhys Thornton, and Josh Houston were ejected from the contest.
