Norfolk falls apart in second, loses to Dunnville, 9-2

Dunnville used a three-goal second period to put away the Norfolk Rebels, 9-2.

Dunnville got the win with help from a great game by Andrew McMurtrie, who had one goal and two assists. McMurtrie scored on the power play 13:19 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Dunnville. Dunnville had taken the advantage when Norfolk's Ricky Johnston got sent off for cross checking. Ryan Turner assisted on the tally.

The Rebels were doomed by their poor performance on special teams, as Dunnville was able to score five times while on the power play.

Norfolk was unable to stop Dunnville from sending pucks towards the net, and Dunnville eventually piled up 63 shots on goal. Dunnville struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 38 penalty minutes for 11 opposing power plays.

Dunnville additionally got points from Travis Sheldrake, who also grabbed two goals and one assist, Landon Minor, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Luke Rowe, who also registered one goal and two assists, Tyler Springer, who also had one goal and one assist, and Mack Steele, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Dunnville also got a goal from Drew Harrison as well. More assists for Dunnville came via Matt Potter, who had two and Joel Vanvliet and Brandon Schmalz, who contributed one a piece.

The Rebels' offense rang up 33 shots on Dunnville's net. Norfolk could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 34 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Rebels were helped by Joshua Slegers, who racked up one goal and one assist. Slegers scored on the power play 4:41 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Norfolk earned a power play opportunity when Dylan ONeill was put in the box for high sticking. Kurtis Pettitt picked up the assist. Jacob Ferreira also scored for Norfolk. In addition, Norfolk received assists from Clayton Charot, who had one.

Dunnville's Dusytn Baker stopped 31 shots out of the 33 that he faced. Jason Miller rejected 54 shots on goal for the Rebels.
