Dorchester holds on for 4-2 win against Thamesford

The Thamesford Trojans tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the Dorchester Dolphins would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-2.

Dorchester took a 4-1 lead during the third period, only to have Thamesford storm back on a Judson Couture goal 17:55 into the third period to pull to two goals down.

The Dolphins' penalty kill excelled, as Dorchester gave up one goal despite allowing seven power plays.

The Dolphins forced the Trojans goalie James Champagne to work between the pipes, taking 47 shots. Dorchester's power play was punchless, and failed to score a single goal despite having 11 power play opportunities. The Dolphins got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Dorchester was helped by Liam Gillooly, who finished with one goal. Gillooly scored 10:53 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Dorchester. Dorchester also got a goal from Matt Johnson as well. Other players who recorded assists for Dorchester were Brady Veroughstraete, Jesiah Sweetland, Matt Cormier, and Chad Brulotte, who contributed one a piece.

Thamesford stifled the Dolphins' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Trojans' offense rang up 35 shots on Dorchester's net.

Thamesford was helped by Ben Kirwin, who registered one goal. Kirwin scored on the power play 19:31 into the first period to make the score 1-1. The Trojans had gained a power play chance when Veroughstraete was whistled for high sticking. Beau Diloreto provided the assist. More assists for Thamesford came via James Toye, Dylan Salter, and Andrew McLennan, who each chipped in one.

The Dolphins' Jake Fonti stopped 33 shots out of the 35 that he faced. Dorchester incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. James Champagne made 43 saves for Thamesford on 47 shots. The Trojans incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Thamesford ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Brandyn Di Domenico was ejected from the game.
