Thamesford beats North Middlesex 7-6 after comeback scare

The Thamesford Trojans survived a determined comeback attempt by the North Middlesex Stars on the way to a 7-6 win.

Thamesford made the score 7-5 on a goal by Adam Levine at 1:46 in the third period, and North Middlesex got as close as 7-6 when Alex Davis scored 9:45 into the third period.

Beau Diloreto was all over the ice for the Trojans, as he racked up two goals in the win. Diloreto scored on the power play at 6:53 into the second period to make the score 4-3 North Middlesex and again while on the power play 7:50 into the second to make the score 4-4.

The Stars were unable to stop Thamesford from sending pucks towards the net, and the Trojans eventually piled up 42 shots on goal.

Thamesford additionally got points from Levine, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Kyle Walker, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Thamesford included Stavros Mandrapilias, who had one and James Toye, who had two. Other players who recorded assists for Thamesford were Luke Anderson, who had one, Brandyn Di Domenico, who had three, and Ben Kirwin and Mitch Nishimura, who each chipped in two.

North Middlesex surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Stars have scored at the pace of 3.5 goals per game during the current campaign. North Middlesex could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 46 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Stars were helped by Jordan Drury, who finished with one goal. Drury scored 18:35 into the first period to make the score 3-2 North Middlesex. North Middlesex also got points from Davis, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Spencer Kading also scored for North Middlesex. More assists for North Middlesex came via Brock Pinnell, Zak MacNaught, and Connor Knapman, who contributed one a piece and Mike Sharpe and Jake Alkins, who each chipped in two.

James Champagne made 14 saves for Thamesford on 20 shots. The Trojans incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Bobby Raine recorded 35 saves for North Middlesex. The Stars registered two goals on five power play opportunities. For North Middlesex, Chris Waack was ejected from the game.
