Paasch's goals lift Hampton Roads Whalers to 6-3 victory over Potomac Patriots

Taylor Paasch was all over the ice for Hampton Roads Whalers, as he tallied two goals in Hampton Roads Whalers' 6-3 win over Potomac Patriots.

Paasch scored on the power play at 14:13 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Hampton Roads Whalers and again while 16:15 into the second to make the score 3-2 Hampton Roads Whalers.

Hampton Roads Whalers' penalty kill excelled, as Hampton Roads Whalers gave up one goal despite allowing seven power plays.

Potomac Patriots was unable to stop Hampton Roads Whalers from sending pucks towards the net, and Hampton Roads Whalers eventually piled up 53 shots on goal. Hampton Roads Whalers' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Hampton Roads Whalers finished with 24 penalty minutes.

Hampton Roads Whalers additionally got points from Matthew Zendejas, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Christopher Haynes, who also had one goal and one assist, and Joshua Malts, who also finished with two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Hampton Roads Whalers were Clayton Kanemitsu and Alexander Brissette, who each chipped in one and Cameron Snyder and Ioan Florea, who contributed two a piece.

Potomac Patriots could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 18 minutes in penalties during the game. The defensemen of Potomac Patriots were also effective in Hampton Roads Whalers' zone, and came away with two goals.

Potomac Patriots was helped by Andreas Bagfedlt, who tallied one goal. Bagfedlt scored 1:40 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Hampton Roads Whalers. Cameron Smith picked up the assist. Nathan Marks also scored for Potomac Patriots. More assists for Potomac Patriots came via Andrew Turgeon and Nicholas Gray, who each chipped in two.

Brett Kilar made 27 saves for Hampton Roads Whalers on 30 shots. Hampton Roads Whalers registered two goals on four power play opportunities. Potomac Patriots' Alec Yutzler stopped 47 shots out of the 53 that he faced.
