East Coast Eagles pulls away in second, rolls over Potomac Patriots, 6-2

Potomac Patriots allowed East Coast Eagles to net three goals during the second period and fell, 6-2.

Potomac Patriots was doomed by its poor performance on special teams, as East Coast Eagles was able to score five times while on the power play.

East Coast Eagles was sparked by Richard Hudzik, who tallied one goal. Hudzik scored on the power play 5:50 into the second period to make the score 3-1 East Coast Eagles. East Coast Eagles had taken the advantage when Potomac Patriots' Graysonn Runey got sent off for tripping. Jonathan Haun picked up the assist.

East Coast Eagles forced Potomac Patriots' netminders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, racking up 42 shots and forcing 36 saves. Alec Yutzler made 23 stops and Dustyn Moyer made 13. East Coast Eagles put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Potomac Patriots to score on any of its four power plays. East Coast Eagles bested its season scoring average. East Coast Eagles has scored at the pace of 2.4 goals per game during the current campaign. East Coast Eagles' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

East Coast Eagles also got points from Edward Parsons, who also registered one goal and one assist and Nathan Margets, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Ryan Sullivan also scored for East Coast Eagles. In addition, East Coast Eagles received assists from Josh Martinez, Norman Kneubuehler, Stephen Fazzino, and Sean Ozment, who each chipped in one and Zach Sweet and Samuel Banasiewicz, who contributed two a piece.

Potomac Patriots racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 10 minors and one major for 35 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 22.0 minutes per game Potomac Patriots had been spending in the box.

Potomac Patriots was led by Cameron Smith, who finished with one goal. Smith scored 1:12 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Potomac Patriots. Michael Carr assisted on the tally. Potomac Patriots also got a goal from Michael Piccirilli as well.

East Coast Eagles' Bryan Canter stopped 14 shots out of the 16 that he faced. East Coast Eagles incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
