East Coast Eagles wins tough contest against Hampton Roads Whalers, 4-2

East Coast Eagles gutted out a close 4-2 win against Hampton Roads Whalers.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Nicholas Skerlick's goal in the second period proved to be the difference maker.

Skerlick had two goals to lead East Coast Eagles to victory.

Hampton Roads Whalers' power play was ineffective against East Coast Eagles' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

East Coast Eagles excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in nine chances. The defensemen of East Coast Eagles were also effective in Hampton Roads Whalers' zone, and came away with two goals.

Sean Ozment also scored for East Coast Eagles. More assists for East Coast Eagles came via Edward Parsons, Nathan Margets, Nathan Sink, Nathaniel Thiemann, Norman Kneubuehler, and Samuel Banasiewicz, who contributed one a piece.

East Coast Eagles was unable to stop Hampton Roads Whalers from sending pucks towards the net, and Hampton Roads Whalers eventually piled up 33 shots on goal. Hampton Roads Whalers could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game.

Hampton Roads Whalers was helped by Taylor Paasch, who had one goal. Paasch scored 18:20 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Hampton Roads Whalers. Scott Cornfield provided the assist. Hampton Roads Whalers also got a goal from Dylan Woods as well. Other players who recorded assists for Hampton Roads Whalers were Matthew Zendejas and Alexander Brissette, who each chipped in one.

Nicholas Poulos rejected 31 shots on goal for East Coast Eagles. East Coast Eagles incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors. Brett Kilar recorded 22 saves for Hampton Roads Whalers. For Hampton Roads Whalers, Nicholas Michels was ejected from the game.
