Fernandez leads Florida Eels to shutout victory over Space Coast Hurricanes

Hunter Fernandez was superb between the pipes for Florida Eels, as he did not allow a goal in a 4-0 victory over Space Coast Hurricanes.

Florida Eels was led by Tom Doverhjelm, who had one goal and one assist. Doverhjelm scored 16:39 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Florida Eels. Zachery Mudge provided the assist.

Florida Eels put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Space Coast Hurricanes to score on any of its three power plays. Florida Eels' defensive effort looked to be improved. Florida Eels gives up 2.7 goals on average per game. Space Coast Hurricanes was unable to stop Florida Eels from sending pucks towards the net, and Florida Eels eventually piled up 47 shots on goal.

Fredrik Wink also scored for Florida Eels. In addition, Florida Eels received assists from Joey Colatarci, Steven Prince, Xavier Carrillo, Kenan Ural, and Arnaldo Osuna, who contributed one a piece.

Space Coast Hurricanes did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. Space Coast Hurricanes averages 2.8 goals per game. Space Coast Hurricanes forced Florida Eels goalie Fernandez to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots.

Fernandez recorded 36 saves for Florida Eels. Florida Eels incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Space Coast Hurricanes' Nicholas Wayland stopped 43 shots out of the 47 that he faced. Space Coast Hurricanes ended with 19 minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major. For Space Coast Hurricanes, Griffin Rogers was ejected from the game.
