Space Coast Hurricanes' comeback falls short, Florida Eels wins 4-2Fort Myers Skatium Sat, Oct 20, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
Florida Eels came close to giving away a three-goal lead to Space Coast Hurricanes, but did just enough to escape with a 4-2 victory. Florida Eels led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when Florida Eels' Arnaldo Osuna's scored at 1:37 in the third period to put Florida Eels up 3-0. Fredrik Wink and Tom Doverhjelm provided the spark for Florida Eels, combining for three goals and three assists. Wink racked up two goals and one assist and Doverhjelm also notched one goal and two assists. Florida Eels forced Space Coast Hurricanes' netminders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, getting 49 shots and forcing 45 saves. Jeremy Laux made 39 stops and Parker Bonis made six. Florida Eels struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 18 penalty minutes for 10 opposing power plays. Florida Eels also got points from Doverhjelm, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. In addition, Florida Eels received assists from Alexander Sanchez, who had one and Daniel Filler, who had three. Space Coast Hurricanes' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Florida Eels power plays. Florida Eels was unable to stop Space Coast Hurricanes from sending pucks towards the net, and Space Coast Hurricanes eventually piled up 38 shots on goal. Space Coast Hurricanes was helped by Griffin Rogers, who tallied two goals. Rogers scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 7:38 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Florida Eels. Space Coast Hurricanes had gotten the advantage when Florida Eels' Kenan Ural was sent off for hit after whistle. Jack Musil picked up the assist. Rogers' next tally on the power play made the score 3-2 Florida Eels with 5:38 left in the third period. Space Coast Hurricanes had taken the advantage when Florida Eels' Wink got sent off for checking from behind. Jonah Bolton provided the assist. Other players who recorded assists for Space Coast Hurricanes were Jamie Chilcott, who had two. Hunter Fernandez rejected 36 shots on goal for Florida Eels. Space Coast Hurricanes incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
