Tampa Juniors uses shootout to best Florida Eels, 5-4 (2-1 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Tampa Juniors defeated Florida Eels in a shootout 5-4 (2-1 SO).

The shootout featured six attempts between both teams. Florida Eels got a shootout goal from Tom Doverhjelm. Tampa Juniors also got a shootout goal from Jared Goudreau.

Tampa Juniors overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Tampa Juniors trailed 4-2 after a power play goal by Florida Eels' Doverhjelm at 11:14 in the third period. Tampa Juniors tied things up at 4-4 on a goal by Scott Lemire at 13:37 in the third period.

In the losing effort, Florida Eels was led by Doverhjelm, who grabbed one goal and three assists.

Tampa Juniors' offense rang up 50 shots on Florida Eels' net. Tampa Juniors could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 16 minutes in penalties during the game.

Tampa Juniors was helped by Chase Anderson, who tallied one goal. Anderson scored 12:26 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Florida Eels. Paul Lochner picked up the assist. Tampa Juniors also got a goal from Connor Esrick as well. Other players who recorded assists for Tampa Juniors were Ben Winter, Walter Stern, and Logan Garst, who contributed one a piece.

Florida Eels excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Florida Eels kept Tampa Juniors' goalie busy throughout the game, and Nicholas Malvin made 41 saves on 45 shots.

Florida Eels also got points from Joey Colatarci, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Zachery Mudge, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Alexander Sanchez, who also registered one goal and one assist. In addition, Florida Eels received assists from Jeffery Brannon and Brien Thompson, who each chipped in one.

Teke Murphy rejected 45 shots on goal for Florida Eels. Florida Eels totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 2-for-7 on the power play. For Florida Eels, Thompson was ejected from the game.
