Whiteley lifts Tampa Juniors over Florida Eels, 4-1

Tommy Whiteley had two goals to lead Tampa Juniors to a 4-1 victory over Florida Eels.

Whiteley scored at 9:23 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Tampa Juniors and again while on the power play 11:01 into the second to make the score 2-0 Tampa Juniors.

Tampa Juniors was led by goalie Nicholas Malvin, who finished with 50 saves while allowing one goal. Malvin managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 3.69 prior to the game.

Tampa Juniors' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Florida Eels power plays. Tampa Juniors kept Florida Eels' goalie busy throughout the game, and Hunter Fernandez made 45 saves on 49 shots.

Tampa Juniors also got a goal from Michael Hirschauer as well. In addition, Tampa Juniors received assists from Thomas Miller, who had two, Jared Goudreau, who had three, and Ben Winter and Ryan Menard, who each chipped in one.

Florida Eels forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up six minors and one major for 17 minutes in penalty time. Florida Eels had been averaging 14.0 minutes in penalties per game. Florida Eels did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. Florida Eels averages 3.4 goals per game. Florida Eels' offense rang up 51 shots on Tampa Juniors' net.

Florida Eels was led by Sean McGowan, who scored the team's only goal. McGowan scored short handed 17:35 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Tampa Juniors. A hooking call on Zachery Mudge put Florida Eels on the penalty kill. Xavier Carrillo assisted on the tally.

Tampa Juniors incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
