Paasch's goals lift Hampton Roads Whalers to 5-2 victory over East Coast Eagles

Behind a great game by Taylor Paasch, who had two goals, Hampton Roads Whalers defeated East Coast Eagles, 5-2.

Paasch scored at 8:34 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Hampton Roads Whalers and again while on the power play 17:39 into the second to make the score 5-1 Hampton Roads Whalers.

Hampton Roads Whalers pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 38 penalty minutes.

Hampton Roads Whalers forced East Coast Eagles' goalies to work in net, launching 36 shots and forcing 31 saves. Nicholas Poulos made 27 stops and Bryan Canter made four. Hampton Roads Whalers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six East Coast Eagles power plays.

Hampton Roads Whalers additionally got points from Matthew Zendejas, who also had one goal and three assists to lead the team in points and Scott Cornfield, who also tallied one goal and two assists. Cameron Snyder also scored for Hampton Roads Whalers. In addition, Hampton Roads Whalers received assists from Ioan Florea, Christopher Marro, Dylan Woods, Clayton Kanemitsu, and Artur Raevskiy, who contributed one a piece.

East Coast Eagles got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. East Coast Eagles found itself short handed often, totaling 40 penalty minutes and allowing seven power plays.

East Coast Eagles was led by Nathaniel Thiemann, who racked up one goal. Thiemann scored 6:12 into the first period to make the score 1-0 East Coast Eagles. Edward Parsons assisted on the tally. East Coast Eagles also got a goal from Sean Ozment as well. More assists for East Coast Eagles came via Josh Martinez, Nathan Margets, and Stephen Fazzino, who each chipped in one.

Hampton Roads Whalers' Tyler Kraft stopped 20 shots out of the 22 that he faced. For Hampton Roads Whalers, Florea was ejected from the game.
