Pal's big game bests East Coast Eagles in 13-2 Atlanta Jr. Knights win

Shaunak Pal had one goal and four assists to lead Atlanta Jr. Knights to a 13-2 victory over East Coast Eagles.

Pal beat Nicholas Poulos with a shot 1:10 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Atlanta Jr. Knights. Tyler Pionk provided the assist. Pal dished an assist on Cody Stettin's goal that made the score 3-0 Atlanta Jr. Knights at 9:38 into the first period. He then added assists on Pionk's goal at 5:43 into the second, on Pionk's goal at 10:52 into the second, and on Pionk's goal at 12:23 into the second.

Atlanta Jr. Knights made East Coast Eagles' goaltenders to work without much rest, ripping 51 shots and forcing 38 saves. Poulos made 28 stops and Bryan Canter made 10. Atlanta Jr. Knights put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow East Coast Eagles to score on any of its four power plays. Atlanta Jr. Knights' goal total was higher than its season average. This season, Atlanta Jr. Knights averages 7.3 goals per contest. Atlanta Jr. Knights got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed four goals during the game.

Atlanta Jr. Knights also got points from Stettin, who also finished with one goal and four assists, Jordan Simmonds, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Pionk, who also registered three goals and two assists, Jordan Landwehr, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Alexander Goodhue, who also finished with one goal and two assists, and Hunter Scott, who also had one goal and one assist. Atlanta Jr. Knights also had goals scored by Aaron Dusek, who had two and Zachary Bakotic and Nick Webb, who each put in one. More assists for Atlanta Jr. Knights came via Jeremy Bost, George Gerasimou, and Aaron Blaker, who each chipped in one and Derek Makimaa and Andrew Daehlin, who contributed two a piece.

East Coast Eagles struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 28 penalty minutes for six opposing power plays.

East Coast Eagles was led by Nicholas Skerlick, who tallied one goal. Skerlick scored 15:32 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Atlanta Jr. Knights. Nathan Sink assisted on the tally. Jonathan Haun also scored for East Coast Eagles. Other players who recorded assists for East Coast Eagles were Josh Martinez, Ryan Pfau, and Robert Crawford, who each chipped in one.

Austin Campbell rejected 15 shots on goal for Atlanta Jr. Knights. Atlanta Jr. Knights incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
