Huge game by Simmonds boosts Atlanta Jr. Knights over Hampton Roads Whalers, 4-1

Jordan Simmonds was all over the ice for Atlanta Jr. Knights, as he tallied one goal and two assists in Atlanta Jr. Knights' 4-1 win over Hampton Roads Whalers.

Simmonds got on the board by slotting home a goal 17:18 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Derek Makimaa picked up the assist. Simmonds dished an assist on Makimaa's goal that made the score 2-1 Atlanta Jr. Knights at 1:48 into the second period. He added another helper on Hunter Scott's goal that made the score 4-1 Atlanta Jr. Knights at 11:47 into the second period.

Hampton Roads Whalers' power play was ineffective against Atlanta Jr. Knights' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

Atlanta Jr. Knights kept Hampton Roads Whalers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Blake Scott made 32 saves on 36 shots. Atlanta Jr. Knights was ineffective while on the power play, as it was held to one goal off of nine man advantages.
