Mike Rebry netted a hat trick to lead the Brantford Golden Eagles over the St. Catharines Falcons, 5-2. Rebry's first goal came 14:57 into the first period. He then added goals at 9:35 into the second and at 18:52 into the third.The win gave Brantford a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series. The Golden Eagles stifled St. Catharines' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Brantford kept the Falcons' goalie busy throughout the game, and Brad Pope made 32 saves on 37 shots. Trent Hawke also scored for Brantford. In addition, Brantford received assists from Jeff Swift, Matt Quilty, Tyler Norrie, and Tanner Rutland, who each chipped in one. St. Catharines was helped by Curtis Longland, who finished with one goal. Longland scored 7:10 into the second period to make the score 2-1 St. Catharines. Riley Jakobschuk provided the assist. St. Catharines also got a goal from Matt Melo as well. Other players who recorded assists for St. Catharines were Jimmy Sheehan and Johnson Andrews, who contributed one a piece. The Golden Eagles' Bryce O Hagan stopped 26 shots out of the 28 that he faced. Brantford incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Falcons incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
