St. Catharines falls to London after surprising comeback

Undaunted by a two-goal deficit, the London Nationals battled back to claim a 3-2 victory over the St. Catharines Falcons.

London never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Nationals trailed 2-0 after a goal by St. Catharines' Aaron Taylor at 19:04 in the second period. London tied things up at 2-2 on a goal by Spencer Watson at 14:29 in the third period. The Nationals scored the game winner at 16:09 in the third period on a goal by Watson.

London was led by Aaron Dartch, who racked up one goal.

The Nationals' offense rang up 36 shots on the Falcons' net.

London also got points from Noah Schwartz, who also registered one goal and one assist. More assists for London came via Scott Lombardi, who had one and Daniel Cameron, who had two.

St. Catharines put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow London to score on any of its three power plays. The Falcons did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. St. Catharines puts an average of 4.3 pucks into the net per game.

The Falcons were helped by Andy Sturtz, who grabbed one goal. Sturtz scored on the power play 13:14 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Catharines. St. Catharines had gotten the advantage when the Nationals' Lombardi was sent off for holding. Curtis Longland provided the assist. Other players who recorded assists for St. Catharines were Ben Dubois, who had one and Johnson Andrews, who had two.

Taylor Edwards recorded 22 saves for London. The Nationals incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. The Falcons' Brad Pope stopped 33 shots out of the 36 that he faced. St. Catharines incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
