Goch leads Chippawa over Dundas, 4-1

Behind a great game by Matt Goch, who had two goals and one assist, the Chippawa Riverhawks defeated the Dundas Blues, 4-1.

Goch found the back of the net 1:55 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Chippawa and again while 19:24 into the third to make the score 4-1 Chippawa.

The win by Chippawa broke a deadlock and gave the Riverhawks a 4-3 series win.

Chippawa was led by goalie David Johnston, who finished with 41 saves while allowing one goal. Johnston certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.16 entering the contest.

The Riverhawks put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Dundas to score on any of its three power plays.

Chippawa also got points from Dalton Riley, who also tallied one goal and two assists. Chippawa got a goal from Taylor OBrien as well. In addition, Chippawa received assists from Tory Mclean, who had one and Brandon Thomas, who had two.

The Blues excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Dundas forced Chippawa goalie Johnston to work between the pipes, taking 42 shots.

The Blues were led by Mitch Reid, who scored the team's only goal. Reid scored 6:24 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Chippawa. Alex Pierobon assisted on the tally.

The Riverhawks incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. For Chippawa, Tyson Bell was ejected from the game. Dundas' Michael Destro stopped 20 shots out of the 24 that he faced. The Blues incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
