Caledonia's Scione deadly on offense in 7-4 win against Dunnville

Stefan Scione had two goals to lead the Caledonia Corvairs to a 7-4 victory over the Dunnville Jr. Mudcats.

Scione scored at 3:54 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Caledonia and again while 4:50 into the second to make the score 5-2 Caledonia.

After the loss made the series score 3-2 in the best of seven series, Dunnville faces elimination next time out.

The Jr. Mudcats' power play was ineffective against Caledonia's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

The Corvairs forced Dunnville's goalies to work all game long, totaling 36 shots and forcing 29 saves. Chris Kocsis made 21 stops and Spencer Peacock made eight. Caledonia's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on nine Dunnville power plays. The Corvairs could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game.

Caledonia also got points from Riley Arnel, who also registered one goal and one assist, Matt Charbonneau, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Jaccob DeNobriga, who also finished with two goals and one assist. Caledonia also got a goal from Kyle Sault as well. Other players who recorded assists for Caledonia were Gregory Christmas, Connor Cadaret, Scott Castellani, Jamie Williams, Jordan McCarl, William Horvatis, and Simon Blythe, who each chipped in one.

Caledonia was unable to stop the Jr. Mudcats from sending pucks towards the net, and Dunnville eventually piled up 45 shots on goal.

The Jr. Mudcats were led by Drake Hart, who had three goals. Dylan Edwards also scored for Dunnville. In addition, Dunnville received assists from Joel Vanvliet and Corey Blackwood, who contributed one a piece and Hugh Carson, Shawn Anthony, and Mack Steele, who each chipped in two.

J.D Shaw recorded 41 saves for the Corvairs. Caledonia registered three goals on seven power play opportunities. Dunnville incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
