Valpellice beats Alleghe 7-0 as Desmet gets hat trick

Taggart Desmet lifted the Valpellice Bulldogs to a 7-0 victory with a hat trick against the Alleghe Civette.

Desmet's first goal came 5:04 into the first period. He then added goals at 8:51 into the second and at 10:27 into the third.

Steve Valiquette frustrated Alleghe's offense all game, and stopped 30 shots en route to a shutout. The solid play of Valiquette will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 1.47.

Valpellice stifled the Civette's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Bulldogs found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, Valpellice averages 3.9 goals per contest.

Valpellice additionally got points from Alex Nikiforuk, who also had one goal and one assist and Robert Sirianni, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Valpellice also got a goal from Marco Pozzi as well. In addition, Valpellice received assists from Luca Frigo, who had two and Garret Bembridge, Benysek Ladislav, Ryan Martinelli, Lou Dickenson, and Alex Silva, who contributed one a piece.

Alleghe put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Bulldogs to score on any of their three power plays. The Civette were held below their usual level of production. Alleghe puts an average of 2.8 pucks into the net per game.

Valpellice incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Davide Fontanive recorded 31 saves for the Civette. Alleghe incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
