Pontebba's comeback falls short, Val Pusteria wins 5-3Claudio Vuerich Thu, Feb 23, 2012 The Pontebba Aquile FVG almost clawed their way back from a three-goal deficit, but the Val Pusteria Lupi managed to pull out a 5-3 win in the end. Val Pusteria led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Lupi's Max Oberrauch's scored at 4:53 in the first period to put Val Pusteria up 3-0. Joe Jensen had a great game for the Lupi, netting two goals. Jensen scored at 2:50 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Val Pusteria and again while 19:21 into the third to make the score 5-3 Val Pusteria. Val Pusteria found itself short handed often, totaling 28 penalty minutes and allowing nine power plays. The leading offender was Jensen, who totaled 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors and one misconduct. Val Pusteria got a goal from Nate DiCasmirro as well. More assists for Val Pusteria came via Armin Hofer, Christian Willeit, Thomas Erlacher, Ryan Watson, Kevin Desfosses, and Giulio Scandella, who contributed one each and Joe Cullen and David Ling, who each chipped in two. Pontebba's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on seven Val Pusteria power plays. The Aquile FVG's defensemen played an important role in the offense, as they chipped in two goals. The Lupi's Desfosses stopped 42 shots out of the 45 that he faced. Alex Petizian recorded 35 saves for Pontebba. The Aquile FVG incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
