St. Bonaventure's had a big weekend earning two huge wins against Binghamton and undefeated and #1 ranked Niagara. On Friday evening, the Bonnies fell behind 1-0 in the first period against Binghamton after Kyle Jayson notched his third of the season. In the second period the Bonnies received two goals from Brennan McDermott and one each from Cal Kogut and team point leader Tyler Menz. Binghamton would score two in the third period to make it 4-3, however the Bonnies were able to hang on to secure the win.
On Saturday, the Bonnies again fell behind 1-0 when Ben Macrobbie scored his first of two goals at 8:09 of the opening period. St. Bon's would get two goals in the next 5 minutes from Ryan Levesque and Carson Schlager. Niagara would tie it at two early in the second period when Sean Walsh found the back of the net for his 13th goal of the season. However Tyler Menz would score on the power play and then shorthanded just a minute and a half later before Cal Kogut closed the period with a tally of his own to put the Bonnies ahead 5-2. Niagara would get two more goals from Walsh and Macrobbie to close the gap, but St. Bon's secured the largest victory to date this season as time ran out in the third period.
Niagara still holds the top spot in the league but the Bonnies are nipping at their heels which should make for an interesting second half of the season.
