Locos win eighth title after 8-6 win over Joes

GLSCL PLAYER OF THE WEEK - July 21, 2025
Jaxson Christ - Hamilton Joes - Lake Erie College
Jaxson Christ was 7-for-17 with a .412 batting average, .583 on-base percentage and .706 slugging percentage. He hit one home run with five RBIs scoring eight runs and stole two bases. Christ also was hit by pitch twice giving him 20 for the season which is the most in a season since Zach Heeke of the Irish Hills Leprechauns in 2017.
Christ earns his second Player of the Week honor and narrowly missed out of third. For the season, Christ is hitting .343 and is second in the GLSCL with a .496 on base percentage.
The Arcanum, Ohio native will be the designated hitter for the South Division team in next week’s GLSCL All-Star Game on July 22 at Prasco Park.
HONORABLE MENTION - Player of the Week
Greg Guzik - Michigan Monarchs - Central Michigan Monarchs
Greg Guzik went .455 going 10-for-22 at the plate in five games for the Monarchs. Guzik had four multi-hit games out of the five that appearance in scoring seven runs and stole four bases. Guzik also had three extra base hits, two doubles and one triple.
Taylor Head - Muskegon Clippers - Chattanooga State Tech
Taylor Head hit for a .429 batting average for the week going 9-for-21 at the plate scoring four runs and stealing three bases. Head, the Clippers lead off batter, reached base leading off the game in all six games. He lead off with a single in all of the first four games, was hit by a pitch in the fifth and was walked in the sixth.
Caleb Smith - Flag City Sluggers - Three Rivers CC
Caleb Smith went 8-for-17 at the plate for a .417 batting average playing in four games during the week for the Sluggers. Smith also drove in four RBIs and scored four runs. The Sluggers third baseman went 3-for-5 at the plate on July 15 against the Hamilton Joes.

The Great Lakes Summer Collegiate, founded in 1987, is a wood-bat league that is certified by the NCAA and is partially funded by Major League Baseball. The GLSCL is a non-profit 501(c)(3) entity that is one of 12 members of the National Alliance of Collegiate Summer Baseball (NACSB). The league currently consists of 8 active franchises in Ohio and Michigan boasting several players that have earned service time in major league baseball.
