2025 GLSCL Post Season Awards Announced

The Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League is proud to announce its 2025 post season awards.

 

The selection breakdown for the All-GLSCL Post Season Teams is for each position awarding a first and second-team honoree with all other voter getters being named honorable mention.

 

All post season selections and awards are determined by the eight coaching staffs with each team getting one vote.

Gary Henschen Player of the Year

Harrison Engskov -  Flag City Sluggers - Arkansas State University (transfer)

 

Harrison Engskov finished third in the GLSCL batting title and was top among players that played the entire season for their respective teams with a .346 batting average. Engskov was hitting over .400 as late as July 4 when his high water mark was an impressive .405 through his first 75 at bats.

 

Engskov led the GLSCL in runs scored (38) and total bases (78) and was tied for the most RBIs (32). The switch hitting outfielder-first baseman combo was also tied for second in the league with five home runs and second in hits (47) for the season. 

 

Engskov was voted a starting outfielder for the South Division in the GLSCL All-Star game. He had an impressive performance producing an RBI-single and an outfield assist.

 

The Little Rock, Arkansas has had quite the journey leading up to this point. Engskov was committed the Arkansas State University as a senior in high school when he was diagnosed with a thyroid condition called Graves' disease. He missed is senior season and his freshman season at Arkansas State while recovering from the illness. He is currently in the transfer portal looking for a fresh and new beginning to his college career after a great summer for the Sluggers.

 

 

Lou Laslo Pitcher of the Year

Michael Bilo - Hamilton Joes - Wright State University

 

Michael Bilo was 5-1 on the season in seven starts for the Joes tied for most victories in the GLSCL. Bilo won the GLSCL earned run average crown with a league low 1.00 ERA in 35.2 innings of work. He struck out 25 batters while only allowing nine walks on the season.

 

Bilo pitched a seven-inning complete game shutout on June 14 in the second game of a double header against the Michigan Monarchs. He allowed just three base runners on only two hits and the third reached on an error. Bilo struck out four batters and didn’t allow a walk while throwing only 77 pitches.

 

The right-hander pitcher from Mason, Ohio only gave up one than one run in a game one time and never gave up more than one earned run in any game this season. He was selected the GLSCL All-Star Game where he pitched one scoreless inning with a strikeout and a walk.

 

Bilo came to the Joes from George Mason University where he threw 12.2 innings as a freshman for the Patriots. He recently announced that he was transferring to Wright State University for the 2026 season. Bilo was also the winning pitcher for the Mason Comets in the 2024 OHSAA state championship game.

 

 

Ron Miller Top Player Prospect

Cole Crafton - Lima Locos - University of Illinois  

Cole Crafton tied for the league lead with six homers this season for the Lima Locos. Crafton was one of just three players this season to hit two home runs in a game. He blasted two bombs on July 19 in a 10-0 blowout of the Grand Lake Mariners.

 

Crafton finished the season with the Locos hitting six home runs, driving in 29 RBIs and hitting for a .305 batting average. He led the Locos in RBIs, hits (43) total bases (72) and runs scored (28).

 

The Manhattan, Illinois native was a redshirted this past spring at the University of Louisville. After not seeing any game action, Crafton entered the transfer portal. He announced during the summer season that he was transferring closing to his home when he committed the University of Illinois.

 

 

Tony Lucadella Top Pitcher Prospect

Jake Michalak - Hamilton Joes - Ohio State University

 

Jake Michalak was only committed to pitch the first month of the season for the Lima Locos but he made quite the impression. Michalak made four appearances, three on which were starts, going 2-0 with a 3.04 ERA. In 23.2 innings of work, Michalak struck out 27 batters while walking just 11.

 

Michalak notched a GLSCL-high 11 strikeouts in his season debut on June 10 against the Flag City Sluggers. He also struck out eight and seven batters in two other appearances.

 

The North Royalton, Ohio native has played the last two seasons at Ohio State University. As a sophomore in 2025, Michalak was a weekend starter making 14 starts striking out a career-high 49 batters in 46.2 innings worked. He fanned a career-high 10 batters against Valparaiso on March 9.

 

 

Joe Carbone GLSCL Manager of the Year

Kyle Peets - Xenia Scouts

 

Kyle Peets led the Xenia Scouts to the GLSCL South Division title with a 24-18 record reaching the playoffs for the second time in the last three seasons. The Scouts won its third GLSCL divisional crown in franchise history sharing it with the Hamilton Joes in 2016 and winning it outright in both 2023 and 2025. 

 

Peets, in his first season as a head coach, has been a pitching coach by trade before arriving in Xenia. The Scouts pitching staff boasts the third best ERA in the GLSCL with a mark of 4.87 on the season. Individually, Xenia pitcher Ryne Kaiser led the league in strikeouts with 41. The Scouts were also terrors on the base paths thanks to Peets base stealing strategy. Johnathan Jackson led the GLSCL with 28 stolen bases on the season.

 

Peets is currently the pitching coach at Grace Christian University in Wyoming, Michigan. The Spring Lake, Michigan native played four seasons as a pitcher at Calvin University. Last summer, Peets was the pitching coach for the Athletes in Action team based in the Alaska Baseball League, the Chugiak-Eagle River Chinooks.

The Great Lakes Summer Collegiate, founded in 1987, is a wood-bat league that is certified by the NCAA and is partially funded by Major League Baseball. The GLSCL is a non-profit 501(c)(3) entity that is one of 12 members of the National Alliance of Collegiate Summer Baseball (NACSB). The league currently consists of 8 active franchises in Ohio and Michigan boasting several players that have earned service time in major league baseball.
