Leesburg, Fl. - The Orlando Snappers clinched 2nd place in the 2025 FCSL standings by capping off a 2-game sweep over the Leesburg Lightning on Saturday night with a final score of 7-3.

Orlando will now prepare to face the Lightning themselves in a best 2 out of 3 semifinal clash set to begin on Tuesday, July 22nd at 7:00pm from The First Academy in Orlando, Fl.

On Saturday, the Snappers fell behind early after the Lightning scored 2 runs in the first inning but were more than capable of mounting the comeback.

In the second inning, the Snappers were threatening after loading the bases with no one away.

Though not the big inning they could have had, Orlando came up with a run on a fielder’s choice, cutting their deficit in half, at 2-1.

The visitors took the lead one inning later after putting up a 2-spot.

Hayden Gustavson (LA Tech) knocked home a run on the RBI double to center field and later came around to score on a defensive miscue by the Lightning catcher.

Mathew Farner (Undecided) got on the RBI column in the sixth inning on an RBI single that brought home Julian Mercado (Stetson) to make it a 4-2 Snappers lead.

The bats continued to come alive for Orlando after adding some insurance in the eighth scoring 3 more runs.

Daniel Irizarry (Undecided) had an RBI double, while 2025 draft pick Blake Fields (Houston) and Grant Comeaux (Undecided) came through with RBI singles as part of the Snappers’ 7-2 lead.

With Orlando’s pitching putting up yet another great performance, 7 runs was enough for a 4-run victory for the Snappers who capped off their regular season as the second-best team in the league, beating the Leesburg Lightning 7-3.

Orlando went with 5 different pitchers tonight. Kyle Power (Jacksonville) picked up the victory on the mound, going 3 innings long, while allowing no runs, 3 hits, and striking out 2.

We will see you Tuesday night as the Snappers look to start their championship run off on a high note!
