Top Performers From HCBL’s First Half
Date: Jul 11, 2025
As we hit the stretch point of the 2025 HCBL season, two players were recognized for their outstanding efforts during Week 4.
Southampton’s Collin Quintano (Villanova) was selected as the Pepsi Player of the Week for the second time this season. At the same time, Danny Onorato (Iona) of the Shelter Island Bucks was picked as the ACE Hardware Pitcher of the Week.
Quintano, who was named previously as the Pepsi Player of the Week in Week 2, hit .667 for the Breakers in Week 4, going 12-for-18 with three home runs and eight RBI. In a doubleheader on July 6th against the North Fork Ospreys, Quintano homered in both games and was a combined 5-for-7 with five RBI as Southampton swept the Ospreys in the doubleheader.
In that doubleheader, Quintano, a second-year Southampton Breaker, set the all-time career franchise record for home runs with his 12th career home run in the nightcap of the doubleheader. Quintano currently leads the HCBL in home runs (9) and RBI (32) with a .422 batting average, which ranks second in the league.
Onorato pitched a complete game one-hit shutout for the Bucks on July 6th against the Westhampton Aviators. The Oyster Bay native struck out seven Westhampton batters with just two walks in a 9-0 Bucks win. Onorato is currently 2-1 on the season with an ERA of 3.22 in 22.1 innings pitched.
The HCBL weekly awards are voted on by the league’s six head coaches each weekend.
