North Shore Navigators vs Vermont Mountaineers

Montpelier, VT- The Mountaineers hosted the Navigators for a one-sided matchup in favor of North Shore. In the top of the second, Simmi Whitehill (Monmouth) hit an RBI single, putting the first run on the board for the Navigators and giving them the lead, 1-0. Jackson Powers (St Anselm) added on in the top of the third when he hit an RBI single, doubling North Shore’s lead, 2-0.
The Navigators stayed in command, as in the top of the fifth, Jesse Jaconski (Penn State) hit a sac fly to increase their lead to 3-0. North Shore pitching dominated, combining for twelve strikeouts, with Zachary Kittrell (Alabama-Tuscaloosa) counting for five. As stated by announcer Rocco Pellegrino, “Whoever loses today’s game will have the worst record in the league” which now belongs to Vermont at 10-19. North Shore improves to 10-17, moving a spot above the Mountaineers for second-to-last in the North Division.
North Shore hosts the Schooners on Saturday, July 12th at 5:05pm while Vermont hosts Danbury at 6:30pm.
Upper Valley Nighthawks vs Danbury Westerners

Hartford, VT – The Upper Valley Nighthawks blanked the visiting Danbury Westerners on Friday night by a score of 3-0. The Nighthawks’ pitching was the story in this game as three arms combined for just two hits allowed all night.
Upper Valley got the scoring started in the bottom of the third inning, where they managed to score two runs. After Nick Monile (North Florida) reached on a fielder’s choice and Anthony Brotz (Marist College) drew a walk, Cole Fellows (Columbia) got them on the board with an RBI single to center. The next batter, Nick Shuhet (Rider), hit a sacrifice fly to score Brotz and make it 2-0.
The Nighthawks scored another run in the bottom of the sixth on some timely hitting. With two outs in the inning, Michael Trommer (Bucknell) doubled to get a runner into scoring position. Joe Terranova (LIU Post) followed up with a first-pitch double to score Trommer and made the score 3-0, which would be the final.
Upper Valley starter Drew Koenen (Virginia) got the win for five innings of one-hit baseball. Tyler Hemmesch (Minnesota) continued the dominance through innings 6-8 as he allowed just one hit as well. Hemmesch handed it over to Mason Phillips (West Georgia), who promptly shut the door. Kaden Hilburger (Bryant) was given the loss for Danbury as he allowed two runs in three innings.
The Westerners will look to get back on track Saturday evening when they visit the Vermont Mountaineers. As for the Nighthawks, they’ll try to extend their three-game winning streak at home against the Keene SwampBats Saturday night.
