Diamond Dawgs Drop 10th Consecutive Game; This time 7-2 against the Snappers

Date:  Source: Florida Collegiate Summer League

ORLANDO – The Winter Park Diamond Dawgs continue to slide as they have lost their past 10 contests. This time, in a middle of the week one-game set between the Orlando Snappers. The Snappers improved to 13-7, while the Diamond Dawgs dropped to 2-18.

It has been a tough go of things for Winter Park as we’re now officially halfway through this Florida League season. If the Diamond Dawgs have aspirations of making the playoffs, they will need to turn things around.

In Tuesday’s contest, Orlando got off to a quick lead thanks to a four-run third inning. The top four hitters for Orlando scored all seven runs in the contest. Rashad Robinson (Jacksonville St) had a nice day at the plate, going 3-4 with three runs scored, three stolen bases and a walk.

Orlando had three pitchers each throw three innings in this contest, and all were effective. The Winter Park Diamond Dawgs could not get anything going with the bats all night and were held to just five hits total.

Ryland Happen (Lake Sumter) closed the game out for Orlando, and pitched three clean innings, giving up no hits and no runs.

As noted, this marks Winter Park’s 10th straight loss, and things just can not seem to go their way this season. They’ve been plagued by issuing too many free passes and striking out too much at the plate.

Winter Park has a big series upcoming as they will face the DeLand Suns for a pivotal three-game set starting on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. EST at Alfond Stadium.
