Former Sabre Dogs pitcher Aaron Kern has signed a contract with the Great Falls Voyagers out of the Pioneer League to begin his professional baseball career. Kern threw for the Sabre Dogs in 2018, 2020, and a brief stint in 2021 before signing his pro contract with the Voyagers.
The Minot State University Beavers product made 30 career appearances, tossing 99.0-career innings with 98-career strikeouts while holding a 6.54 career ERA with the Sabre Dogs. During the 2018 season, Kern was in the starting rotation for the team but transitioned to a relief role at the back end of the bullpen, closing out games for the Sabre Dogs in the 2020 and 2021 seasons. He made 11 career starts and posted a 8-5 combined record over two plus years with the team.
The Voyagers are based out of Great Falls, Montana, and are a member of the MLB Partner League. Great Falls has been a member of the Pioneer League since 1969. The Voyagers have been affiliated with the Brooklyn/Los Angeles Dodgers (1952-1963, 1984-2002), San Francisco Giants (1969-1983), and Chicago White Sox (2003-2020).
