DICKINSON, ND- The Badlands Big Sticks season came to an end in the 2021 Lewis Division Series after two loses to the Souris Valley Sabre Dogs on Monday and Tuesday.

Game 1: SVS 15, BBS 1

The Sabre Dogs started off the game with a lead-off homerun then plated four runs in the top of the second inning to take a 5-0 lead after two innings. The Big Sticks would score their only run of the game in the third inning. The Sabre Dogs would go on to score five runs in the fourth, three in the fifth and two in the eighth to win game 1, 15-1.

The Big Sticks tallied one run on two hits with two errors while the Sabre Dogs scored 15 runs on 18 hits with two errors.

Ryan Stafford led the Big Sticks going 1-4 with a double and an RBI while Anthony Garrett added a single. Austin Bunn scored the lone run for the Big Sticks.

Joe Harris took the loss on the mound going three innings allowing five runs on seven hits with three walks and one strikeout. Matt Johnston tossed one inning allowing five runs on four hits with two walks and one strikeout. Calvin Watkins threw four innings allowing five runs (two earned) on seven hits with one walk and three strikeouts. Anthony Garrett tossed the top of the ninth allowing no runs on no hits with no walks and no strikeouts.

Game 2: SVS 7, BBS 1

The Sabre Dogs jumped on the board first in the bottom of the first with two runs. SVS added a run in the bottom of the fifth to increase their lead to 3-0. In the top of the sixth, a solo homerun by Wyatt Setian would be the only run for the Big Sticks. The Sabre Dogs would add one run in the seventh and three in the eighth to win the game 7-1 and punch their ticket into the 2021 Expedition League Championship Series.

The Big Sticks finished the game with one run on five hits and no errors while the Sabre Dogs finished with seven runs on nine hits with and no errors.

Wyatt Setian led the Big Sticks going 1-3 with a homerun, one RBI and one walk. Chewy Sanders and Alex Thurston each recorded a double while Carson Lundmark and Anthony Garrett each collected a hit.

Josh Tucker took the loss going five innings allowing three runs on four hits with four walks and five strikeouts. Michael Reddick tossed three innings allowing four runs on five hits with two walks and six strikeouts.

The Big Sticks finish the 2021 season with an overall record of 38-26.
