PROSPECT LEAGUE RELEASE

J.J. Wetherholt, a native of Gibsonia, Pennsylvania and representing West Virginia University, has been named the Slugger of the Week by the Prospect League Podcast! This is the third award for a Champion City King, and the second Slugger award for the Springfield, Ohio team.

Wetherholt batted .684 for the week in nineteen at-bats, picking up thirteen hits and three extra-base hits. Wetherholt hit his first home run of the season in the 13-2 loss at home to Chillicothe. The left-handed batter also accounted for six runs scored and three RBI. With the doubleheader at Danville complete, going 4-for-8 with 3RBI in Tuesday's split, Wetherholt is hitting .415, which is the second highest average in the league!
