Alton (IL) Its called a winning streak! For the first time since they opened the season with three straight wins, the Alton River Dragons are on a winning streak.
Their 8-4 win over O’Fallon on Wednesday gives the River Dragons a three-game winning streak.
Not only that, Alton has not trailed at any point during the last three games.
On Wednesday, the River Dragons burst in front, taking an 8-0 lead after four-innings.
Bryer Arview hit a two-run double to left centerfield in the second to open the scoring.
In the fourth, Evan Evola led off with a homer to right field. The River Dragons kept it going when a wild pitch brought in a runner from third to extend the lead to 4-0. Then,after Drake Westcott delivered an RBI single to make the score 5-0, Erik Broekemeier lifted a three-run home run that barely stayed inside the left field pole closing the run at 8-0.
O’Fallon scored three in the fifth and added an run in the seventh but never seriously threatened the lead.
Alex Rodriguez started on the mound, going a personal best 4.2 innings allowing three run while striking out seven.
Scott Detwiler maintained the lead, allowing a single run over 2.1 innings. Two scoreless from Tyson Greene closed out the win.
