Catfish Win One Lose One in Double Header v. Gems

The Cape Catfish hosted the Quincy Gems in a doubleheader at Capaha Park on Sunday, July 11. 

 

The teams were supposed to face off on July 10 and 11 consecutively, but the game on July 10 was rained out, 

 

The first seven-inning game started at 5:30 p.m. with Noah Burkey on the mound for the Catfish. The Gems put runs on the board first with a score unearned by Dane Thomas. The Gems would score again with one run in the top of the fifth inning and three runs in the sixth inning. 

 

The Catfish started off with two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. The game changed in the bottom of the fifth inning when the Catfish scored six runs. Andrew Stone hit a double that allowed Diego Johnson and Dalton McNamara to score. Then, Jackson Campbell hit a triple that put Ellison Hanna and Jackson Jarvis across home plate. The Catfish won the first game 8-5. 

 

The second seven-inning game started at 8:15 p.m. with Colton Weber on the mound for the ‘Fish. The Catfish were quick to score in the bottom of the first inning when a double from Stone put Diego Johnson across. The ‘Fish scored again in the bottom of the sixth when a double from Jarvis allowed Stone to score a run. The Gems scored one run in the top of the third inning ad two in the fifth. The Gems won the second game with a final score of 3-2. The Catfish will host the Danville Dans at Capaha Park on Tuesday, July 13.
