The Sabre Dogs rolled into the Fremont Moo’s pasture this past weekend for a three game series. Due to rain in the first game, the teams only played four innings and were forced to finish the following day. The Sabre Dogs finished strong with a win of 13-6. After dropping the second game 6-11, the rubber match of the series brought the fireworks for both teams. With the third game being a rollercoaster of emotions, Souris Valley eventually prevailed as top dog after winning in 11 innings. The game featured two lead changes including an eight run 9th inning.

Beau Brewer continued his all-out assault on Expedition League, going 7 for 16 with a double and an RBI. Not to be outdone by Brewer, Cadyn Schwabe contributed with six hits and three RBIs. Schwabe is now second in the league in batting average (.453), behind only his teammate Beau Brewer (.504). Game three read like a movie script. After the Dogs took the lead back in the 9th inning, the Moo immediately responded with a four run inning of their own, sending the game into extra innings. Jaiden Beck escaped a bases-loaded jam in the bottom of the 10th, but the heroics did not stop there for Beck. Coach Alex Miklos was forced to burn his designated hitter in the top of the 11th, bringing Beck to the plate for his first at bat of the season. Beck took advantage of the opportunity and saved the day with a 2-run homer to left field. No such drama followed in the bottom half of the inning as Beck came in and slammed the door on the Fremont Moo.

After their miraculous win in game three, Souris Valley moved their record to 20-9, clinching a playoff spot as first-half winners of the Clark Division. The Sabre Dogs return to Minot for a three game series against the Pierre Trappers. The series begins on Tuesday, June 29th with each game beginning at 7:05 CST.
