2024 River Dragons Winter Meeting Tickets On Sale Now

The Cape Catfish faced off against the Alton River Dragons in a double header on Saturday, June 12.
One game turned into two when the matchup scheduled for June 1 was rained out. The first game of the day started at 2 p.m. and the second started at 7 p.m. Both games were seven innings long instead of nine.
In the first match of the day, the Catfish lost to the River Dragons 8-0. Neither team scored in the first two innings, but the River Dragons put three runs across home plate in the top of the third inning. Cape’s number 42 Mason Speirs hit a triple in the bottom of the fourth inning, and Seth Johnson hit a double in the bottom of the fifth. The River Dragons scored one more in the sixth, and earned four runs in the top of the seventh.
In the second game, the River Dragons were quick to put runs on the board. They scored five runs in the top of the first inning, = one in the top of the third and seventh. The ‘Fish scored one in the first and third inning, and three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. The game changed in the bottom of the sixth inning. Kolten Poorman hit a double that put Andrew Stone and Ellison Hanna over home plate. This hit gave the Catfish a one-run lead over the River Dragons. Later, Poorman scored a run on a sack fly from Noah Jacobsen and DJ Wright followed after an error from River Dragons catcher Bryce Zupan.
