Catfish Win Pitching Duel Over CornBelters

The Cape Catfish hosted the Normal CornBelters in the second of a three-game lineup at Capaha Park on Wednesday, June 9. 

 

The game was strong defensively, with no runs scored by either team in the first, third, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, or ninth innings. 

 

The Catfish had Colten Weber on the mound for the first time this season, who struck out 7 hitters over 6 innings. Other highlights include an RBI from Noah Jacobson and two walks from Kolten Poorman. Number 5 Christopher Jordan had a steal, a single, a double, and was two for four on hits. Seth Johnson made a game-saving catch in the seventh inning with ‘Belter’s on second and third base. 

 

The first score on the board for the Catfish came from DJ Wright. A go-ahead balk from the Belter’s Ryan Hernandez gave the ‘Fish a second run in the bottom of the fourth from Josh Caraway. The CornBelter’s Jack Cooper scored the first run of the game in the second inning.  

 

The final score of the game was 2-1.
