The Souris Valley Sabre Dogs are excited to welcome Alex Miklos to the Magic City as the head coach for the 2021 season. The current Assistant Coach at South Dakota State University joins the Sabre Dogs for his first year serving as head coach.
Prior to joining the Sabre Dogs, Miklos was the third-base coach and hitting coach for the St. Cloud Rox, a summer collegiate team in the Northwoods League. He helped guide the Rox to a 44-28 overall record and a playoff berth.
A native of Grove City, Pennsylvania, Miklos played collegiately at Kent State. A three-time team captain, he was the starting left field for the KSU squad that reached the College World Series in 2012 and led the team in triples that season with four.
In 2014, Miklos led NCAA Division I in triples per game, totaling a single-season school-record seven three-base hits. An all-MAC and all-region honoree, he posted a team-high .362 batting average and also led the squad in slugging percentage (.593), on-base percentage(.439), doubles (18) and stolen bases (17).
He also finished as the Golden Flashes' career leader in triples with 15 and ranked eighth in career stolen bases with 46.
Miklos earned a bachelor's degree in management from Kent State in 2015 and added an MBA in finance a year later. He was a three-time MAC all-academic selection and earned CoSIDA Academic All-District recognition. He also served as president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee at Kent State from 2014-16.
