ACHA NATIONALS RETURNS TO FRISCO ON MARCH 19-29, 2020

TROY, Mich. – (July 29, 2019) – The American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA), the governing body for non-NCAA men’s and women’s collegiate hockey in the United States, announced today the unveiling of the 2020 ACHA National Championships logo. The championships which will take place at the Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas for the second consecutive year.

Now in its 29th year hosting the National Tournament under the ACHA umbrella, the event will feature more than 1,500 players from 72 teams across all five ACHA Divisions- Men’s Division I, II, III and Women’s Divisions I and II, who will convene in the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area to compete in more than 100 games.

“We are thrilled to once again partner with the Dallas Stars and City of Frisco for our championships,” commented Executive Director Craig Barnett. “The student-athletes and coaches who participated in the 2019 National Tournament had a tremendous experience and the fans and parents enjoyed the southern hospitality! We look forward to another memorable event this coming March.”

The 2020 ACHA National Championships will be played on March 19 through March 29, 2020, at Comerica Center and the Children’s Health StarCenters in Plano and McKinney, Texas.

“We are excited to play host to the 2020 ACHA National Championships after a very successful event in Dallas last year," remarked Lucas Reid, Director of Amateur Hockey, Dallas Stars Hockey Club. “We pride ourselves on exposing the local hockey community to all levels within our sport and providing a first-hand experience for the aspiring youth that play within our various programs.”

The Comerica Center is a multi-purpose arena located in Frisco, Texas, at the corner of the Dallas North Tollway and Gaylord Ave. It is the home of the Texas Legends of the NBA G League, as well as the executive offices and practice facility of the National Hockey League's Dallas Stars. It previously served as the home of the Texas Tornado team of the North American Hockey League; the NAHL maintains its headquarters at the arena. The arena is also used for concerts and other live entertainment events. It seats between 5,000 and 7,000 people and has a 2,100-vehicle parking garage.

The 2019 ACHA’s marquee event crowned five divisional champions last March, including in Men’s Division I, which saw Minot State captured its second title in program history; Florida Gulf Coast University earning its fourth title in the last eight years in men’s Division II; and Sault College of Applied Arts & Technology which won its first Division III men’s championship. Two women’s championships were also crowned as Liberty University won back-to-back titles on the Division I level and Assiniboine Community College earned the program’s first Division II championship.
