Matadors Set Tryout Dates

SAN DIEGO - CSUN improved its season long winning streak to eight games Saturday with a 15-1 victory over the University of San Diego.
The Matadors scored the first 11 goals of the game to remain perfect against the Toreros in three all-time games.
John Michael Laurin started things off with a goal at 13:13 of the first period. CSUN won the ensuing face-off and Eli Berengut beat Colton Tanaka just 10 seconds later. Jaime Velasquez scored about two and a half minutes later. George Reznikov made it 4-0 at 7:48. Only nine seconds later again off the face-off Quentin Abaya scored. Matt Hoover closed out the period with a goal at 4:01.
Nik Giers made it 7-0 2:21 into the middle frame. About two minutes later Geno Norraik scored his team leading 16th goal of the season. Velasquez scored his second of the game on the power play at 11:34. Abaya scored his second and the Matadors tenth goal at 2:31.
Berengut scored his second tying Norraik for the team lead at 17:36 of the third. Patrick Routzon spoiled Caleb Mead's shutout 38 seconds later with a wrist shot from the right circle. Nick Schwartz made it 12-1 at 9:20. Just 49 seconds later Grayson Szumilas scored. Then only 1:24 after that Laurin scored his second making it a three-way tie for the team goal lead. Matt Bushton closed things out with a goal at 2:32. Szumilas did score with one second left in the game but the officials didn't count the goal.
Mead improved his record to 5-0-0-1 on the season with a 14 save effort.
The Matadors scored on their only power play while USD went 0-for-2.
CSUN has a chance to finish the fall portion of its schedule without a regulation loss. The Matadors are 14-0-1-2 with only one game left before Christmas break against USC. CSUN has never finished undefeated in regulation in the Gale era which dates back 15 years.
