Recap: Trappers 4, Sasquatch 3 (GM1) & Trappers 14, Sasquatch 3 (GM2)

Date:  Source: Pierre Trappers

GAME 1: Things got off to another fast start early.

In the top of the first, Spearfish tallied a run when Z Westley knocked a single into center and eventually scored on a passed ball from starter Colin Smith.

Pierre would answer back in the bottom of the frame on an RBI single by Zane Phelps to knot the score at 1-1.

The Sasquatch, however, got two back in the top of the second. Both third baseman Matt Crossley and catcher Hayden Hastings tallied in the frame, giving Spearfish the advantage back, 3-1.

But, just like all series, Pierre would quickly answer, this time in the bottom of the third frame. Leadoff man Michael Herrera and center fielder Ken Scott singled to start off the frame and were quickly driven in to even the odds, 3-3.

Things would stay that way until the bottom of the sixth frame. Jonathan Boulaphinh led things off with a base knock, and four batters later, Bill Moreland provided an RBI single to give the Trappers their first lead of game one, 4-3.

Joseph Brazil came in to shut the door, giving up only one baserunner in two frames, and Pierre took game one, 4-3.

GAME 2: Game two would prove to be low scoring until the very conclusion of the contest.

After holding the visitors scoreless in the top of the first, Pierre would strike early with a pair with Ken Scott and Moreland coming to the latest via two errors.

Then, a pitchers duel ensued. Spearfish, in a bullpen game, didn't allow a run until the fifth, and Trappers ace Jackson Back went six frames of scoreless ball, striking out 11, a season high.

It was 2-0 until the bottom of inning number five. Then, a barrage.

The Trappers sent a record 18 batters to the plate as everyone batted twice in the order. 12 runs scored, and seven Pierre players recorded RBI's in the frame. This put the game away with a 14-0 Trapper advantage.

The Sasquatch nullified the shoutout with a trio in the ninth, one run coming via an RBI double by pinch hit pitcher Ben Larson, but the Trappers easily ran away with a 14-3 dominance.
