Sometimes, final scores are deceiving.

Welcome to Thursday.

Pierre would start off hot against starter Ben Larson when Ken Scott knocked his first homer of the season, making it 1-0.

However, that was quickly answered by Spearfish. With two outs, Brent Richey blasted a pitch into deep right center to knot the score at 1-1.

In the middle frames, neither team was able to figure out the starters. Seth Brewer had arguably his best start of the season, going four innings and allow gin just one run while striking out five.

The Sasquatch took their first and only lead of the night in the fifth. After reliever Nathan Morris allowed a leadoff walk to Aaron Johnson, Ticker Roe would quickly get the left fielder home on an RBI groundout.

Things would stay that way until the bottom of the seventh.

In this frame, the Trappers sent 14 batters to the plate. Three of these batters recorded hits off of relieves Brandon Soucy and Jamie Roustio, but the major component of the inning was walks. Five Trappers were walked and three were hit by a pitch. This brought nine runs to the plate and skyrocketed the contest to 10-2. Cell Saver Player of the Game Johnny Pacheco had the big blast in the frame, notching a three run triple with two outs.

Pierre scored three more in the eighth to pad the advantage to 13-2, and Alex Sheetz came in to shut the door and give the Trappers their third win in a row and fourth straight against their South Dakota rivals.

A win for Pierre tomorrow would clinch the 2019 Beef Cup.
