For Pierre, the offense was helping starter Connor McDonald early.
In the first, both Michael Herrera and Ken Scott reached, and two batters later, Bill Moreland recorded a two RBI single to put the Trappers ahead, 2-0.
More from the offense in the second frame. After a leadoff double by Jonathan Boulaphinh, Ken Scott singled the second baseman home to make it 3-0. On the next at bat, Zane Phelps uncorked the first pitch over the wall for his tenth homer of 2019, extending the Pierre lead to 5-0.
From there, McDonald was. dominant. The right hander, succeeding his brother Tyler from last night, hurled 7 2/3 on the bump, not striking out at many as his twin brother (12) but not allowing a run in the process.
Pierre continued to score in the third frame after the second error of the game by third baseman Ryan Olson. This helped Alex Gonzales to reach base, and he would later score on a passed ball against the catcher Ean Vonwald.
That made it 6-0, and Pierre tallied another in the sixth on an RBI double by Nick Grossman.
With the 7-0 win, the Trappers move to a half a game out of a playoff spot with Souris Valley being swept by Fremont 3-2 Wednesday as well.
