Talk about a back and forth battle.
There would be no scoring until the second inning, when the Big Sticks began to attack.
With a man on, Anthony Garrett doubled home Mitch Dean two make it 1-0. Garrett would score one batter later on a triple by Nathan Sanders.
But, down 2-0, Pierre responded. The Trapper got a pair thanks to an RBI single by Niko Piazza, to even the game at 2-2 after two innings.
In the fifth, the Trappers took their firs lead of the game, 3-2. After an error by left fielder Dylan Ditzenberger, Michael Herrera scored two batters after Alex Gonzales grounded him home.
Badlands wouldn't let the lead stand for long, however, and evened things up in the top of the 6th on an RBI single by Garrett, his second of the contest.
With the score 3-3, the Big Sticks found the fence in the seventh. With a man on, Garret Dupuis laced a homer over the right field wall to put Badlands back in the advantage at 5-3.
Pierre would not be daunted though, and stayed consistent in the bottom of the frame. Sam Kalberer started the inning with a solo home run, and after Seth Brewer followed with a single, Gonzales ripped his first hit of the game to level the playing field again, 5-5.
The Trappers retook the lead in the bottom of the eighth. With one out, Brewer flied one out to left field, and Bill Moreland scampered home just in time to make it 6-5.
But Badlands wasn't going away, and a leadoff single by Dupuis would see Nathan Sanders drive him around to send the game to extra innings, 6-6.
The Big Sticks piled on the runs in the tenth. One batter in, Michael Furhman singled home Bryson Ford, who began the inning at second. After a pop out, Kaimana Souza Palouie tattooed a first pitch fastball into right, sending it out of Hyde Stadium and extending the lead to 9-6.
Dallas Bryan struck out the side for Badlands in the bottom of the tenth, and the Big Sticks took a 2-1 lead in the four game series.
