Canada’s best young lacrosse players are coming together for a final evaluation camp for the opportunity to represent Canada at the U19 Women’s Field Lacrosse World Championship. From June 22-30 in Syracuse, these top 25 athletes will take part in daily training exercises, games against local teams, and the Nike Cup. After this camp, the final roster will be selected.
“I’m extremely excited to get back on the field with these talented young women again,” said Scott Teeter, head coach of the Canadian Women’s U19 Field Lacrosse Team. “Although we have some tough decisions to make in the coming weeks, we feel these athletes are very talented and will leave it all on the field. I challenge my staff and I to get it right as we look to defend our world championship in August.”
Kennedy Lynch, one of the top 25 players, is looking forward to the camp.
“We are now down to a much smaller group so now we can really start building chemistry and everybody can start to get to know each other individually,” said Lynch. “It’s about building the dynamics for August.”
The Canadian Women’s U19 Field Lacrosse Team is the reigning world champion. Come out to Peterborough from August 1-10 to cheer on Team Canada! More information on the U19 Women’s Field Lacrosse World Championship can be found here.
Have you ever wondered what it was like to try out for Team Canada? Kennedy Lynch and Bianca Chevarie, two of the youngest athletes to try out for the 2017 Canadian Women’s Senior Field Lacrosse Team, share their experiences about the U19 Team Canada tryouts.
